We are looking for an experienced Driver / Fitter to join the Southend Equipment & Adaptation Service team on a full time and temporary basis (6 months). As a Driver / Fitter, you will effectively contribute to achieving the overall aims & objectives of the service, namely the prompt and efficient delivery, monitoring, servicing and collection of items of equipment and minor adaptations.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately account for stock received, issued, stored, returned & condemned.
- Clean, inspect, service/maintain, re-package, label and safely store previously issued items, maximizing recycling efficiencies.
- Ensure the correct administrative & legislative policies, procedures and systems are fully met within the requirements of the Adult Social Care Department, Southend on Sea City Council, Health Authority and other local or national government bodies.
- Drive and maintain fleet vehicles as required.
Requirements:
- Full driving licence and successful completion of the Borough Fleet Vehicle Driving Test.
- Ability to work on your own initiatives and prioritise your workload.
- Good understanding of basic health & safety principles including safe manual handling, COSHH awareness, storage safety issues, security & fire awareness.
- Physical fitness to undertake a demanding role involving a lot of lifting.
- GCSE passes in English and Maths (or equivalent evidence of educational attainment appropriate to the grading of the post).
