What you’ll do
Give people an outstanding experience when they travel on our high-speed trains. This means greeting people when they step on board, offering information and advice about their journey, and ensuring our trains are always safe, welcoming spaces to be in.
Hundreds of passengers will be relying on your positive energy and proactive problem-solving to make their experience nothing short of amazing.
Your training
- As a Trainee On Board Manager you’ll be enrolled into our Apprenticeship Programme.
- You’ll complete a mix of classroom-based and on-the-job learning, covering everything from functional skills to safety procedures.
Your shifts
- You will work a varied shift pattern, which includes weekends, bank holidays and nights.
- Shifts can start as early as 4.30am and some shifts will finish as late as 1.30am, after the last train has dispatched.
The experience you’ll need
You don’t need railway experience to do this role. We’re looking for people from all backgrounds to join our team.
All you need is:
- a passion for making every passenger journey the best it can be
some face-to-face customer service experience - some experience taking payments and handling cash
excellent communication skills - the ability to be proactive and use your initiative
- good attention to detail.
However, we can only consider your application if you live within a 15-mile radius of the depot you’re applying for. That way, we can make sure you get a good amount of rest between shifts and your journeys to and from work are safe.

- This vacancy may close early if we receive a large number of applications. So, make sure you get yours in early.
- All offers of employment are subject to satisfactory references, a right to work verification, a basic criminal record check, and a pre-employment medical assessment. Work visa sponsorship isn’t available for this role.
