Because for us, caring isn't just a job—it's in our nature. We put our people first—because when you're supported, you can deliver the very best care.

About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a Weekend Veterinary Care Assistant at MiNightVet Woodbridge, Melton. We are looking for someone who can join us on a part-time basis, working 21 hours across Saturday & Sunday (8am-7pm). We can also consider job share applications and provide a rota for every other weekend if you prefer.

Due to the nature of the role and the emergency & critical-care environment, our ideal candidate would have some animal care/veterinary experience. This role would also suit someone who is wanting to enhance their skills to pursue a career in veterinary nursing.

The Veterinary Care Assistant role is one of the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, and as a VCA you will be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients. MiNightVet Woodbridge is a well-established, out-of-hours hospital, offering an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Care Assistant to develop their career in a busy, high-standards clinical environment.

Working alongside an experienced and supportive team, you'll have the opportunity to work on a varied caseload where no two days are ever the same. We foster a supportive, inclusive culture where every team member is encouraged to learn, contribute, and progress. Development and career aspirations are genuinely supported, with many colleagues having progressed into SVN and RVN roles.

Some of the duties will include:

  • Nursing care to patients
  • Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
  • Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Restocking equipment & supplies
  • Covering the receptionist desk, including answering queries, booking appointments and taking payments

What we're looking for in our Veterinary Patient Care Assistant:

  • An excellent communicator with strong empathy
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
  • Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
  • A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
  • Experience in looking after animals in a veterinary environment would be desirable

Benefits:

  • Salary will be up to £12.71 per hour depending on experience
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Option to buy/sell up to 2 weeks annual leave with our buy/sell scheme
  • Staff discount scheme on Veterinary bills and products
  • A range of health benefits including private healthcare
  • Employee Assistance Programme and access to over 400 Mental Health First-Aiders and more!

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept and progress applications from candidates without the Right to Work in the UK as we cannot provide visa sponsorship, due to our clinical support roles not meeting the criteria set out by the Home Office to be eligible.

CVS is committed to being a fully inclusive place to work where all our colleagues are encouraged and supported to be themselves, where difference is celebrated and where everyone feels able to deliver their best. We are also determined to build a workforce that is more representative of our diverse communities and the people we provide our services to.
