Tone Veterinary Centre is looking for a full time Patient Care Assistant, who will also be expected to perform at least 50% reception duties, to join the Tone Vets team in their two centre Veterinary Practice in Taunton. We are looking for a candidate who is dedicated to their work, well organised and demonstrates high standards of customer service skills in a busy veterinary environment. A full driving license would be an advantage as you will be required to move between the two surgeries at Norton Fitzwarren and Blackbrook. The position requires flexibility, as shifts are either early starting at 8am, or finishing at 7pm. Working Saturday mornings as part of the rota with time back as lieu is also required. Training for this role will be provided in house and not via an external college provider, although there may be an opportunity in future to pursue veterinary nurse training.
The PCA role is one of the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, as a PCA you would be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients, working alongside a lovely team of people.
Responsibilities- Caring and monitoring patients in the hospital environment
- Maintaining environmental and patient hygiene following standard operation procedures
- Holding and restraining patients (training given)
- Using basic laboratory skills (training given)
- Ensuring practice premises and equipment are kept tidy and maintained to the highest standards including preparation of equipment for procedures
- Giving patient updates to clients and making follow up appointments
- The candidate must be flexible and have the ability to work as part of the nursing and reception team
- Meeting and greeting clients, providing a great first impression of the practice
- Booking and amending appointments
- Carrying out opening and closing procedures
- Answering clients' queries by telephone, email and in person
- Handling payments
- Other reception/admin duties
- Salary will be in line with the UK National Minimum Wage £20,800 - £25,396
