Endell Equine Hospital in Salisbury is seeking a manager for our custom-built Category 2 in-house laboratory. We are a RCVS accredited Equine Hospital with a varied caseload, and we offer a lab service to our hospital and ambulatory vets for blood samples, tracheal wash samples, reproductive swabs, etc. This is a full-time role (Mon – Fri), with requirements to work 4 bank holiday Mondays in a year (Time off in lieu will be given).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the processing and interpretation of laboratory samples submitted for biochemistry, haematology, worm egg counts, cytology, culture and sensitivity testing
  • Teaching final year veterinary students, new graduate veterinary surgeons and student veterinary nurses
  • Liaising with veterinary surgeons, a point of contact for the clinics laboratory
  • Responsible for quality control, laboratory health and safety, and maintenance of equipment
  • Responsible for stock control of all laboratory supplies

Requirements

  • Biomedical science degree or equivalent
  • SQP qualification preferred but not required
