Join Our Team as a Student Veterinary Nurse! Are you ready to put pets first? At CVS Vets, we make pets a priority every day! We're on the lookout for a dynamic and passionate animal enthusiast to step into the role of a Student Veterinary Nurse at our Oakley Veterinary Clinic.

Role Details

  • Location: Oakley Veterinary Clinic
  • Hours: 40 hours per week plus 1 in 4 Saturdays.
  • Shift Pattern: 40 hours per week spread across 5 days between 7:30 am and 7:00 pm, or across 4 days with one weekday off. 1 in 4 Saturdays on a rota basis, working between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm.

About the Role

As a Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN), you will play a critical role in our outstanding veterinary practice. You'll support our team of qualified RVNs and Vets in delivering exceptional care to our patients, all while working alongside a fantastic team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients.
  • Assist Vets and Nurses in animal restraint during treatments.
  • Clean, walk, and feed patients.
  • Prepare emergency and operating facilities.
  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Run internal lab samples.
  • Answer emergency calls.
  • Cover the receptionist desk, including handling queries, booking appointments, and processing payments.

Who We're Looking For

  • Excellent communication skills with strong empathy.
  • Superior customer service abilities with experience in public interactions.
  • Background in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medicating, and handling, with a deep understanding of animal welfare needs.
  • Resilience and the capacity to handle distressing and emotional situations.
  • Positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills.
  • Experience in a veterinary environment is a plus.

Required Qualifications (for college enrolment)

  • Five GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English, Maths, and a Science subject.
  • An animal nursing assistant (ANA) or veterinary care assistant (VCA) qualification, plus functional skills level two in Application of Number and Communication.
