  • Location: PetMedics (Worsley, Manchester)
  • Contract: Permanent, Full-time
  • Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday on a varied shift pattern, with a share in the Weekend rota

About PetMedics

PetMedics is a large veterinary hospital, staffed by a truly superb clinical team of 37 veterinary surgeons, 41 nurses and a supporting team of PCAs, receptionists, administrative staff and an ambulance team. We have a large waiting room with a separate cat waiting room area. We are proud to have been awarded the GOLD status for being a Cat Friendly Clinic and the SILVER Rabbit Friendly status. Our facilities include - 4 theatres, 6 consulting rooms, an intensive care ward, separate cat and dog wards, an exotics ward, an isolation ward, a digital X-ray, a CT scanner, several ultrasound scanners, endoscopy, laparoscopy, mechanical ventilation, and an extensive in‑house laboratory.

About the role

The Patient Care Assistant position is crucial in any veterinary practice. You'll support our skilled RVN's and Vets in providing exceptional care to our animal patients.

Responsibilities

  • Providing nursing care to our patients
  • Assisting Vets and Nurses with animal restraint
  • Walking, feeding, and cleaning patients
  • Preparing emergency and operating facilities
  • Performing general cleaning and maintenance
  • Running internal lab samples
  • Answering emergency calls
  • Supporting the reception team when needed, including booking appointments and processing payments

Who We're Looking For

  • An excellent communicator with strong empathy
  • Skilled in customer service and public interaction
  • Experienced in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, and handling – this is essential!
  • Resilient and capable of handling emotional situations
  • Positive and a team player
  • Preferably have experience in a veterinary environment
