Finn Pathologists, part of the CVS group, is committed to offering top-quality diagnostic pathology services to the veterinary industry. We are excited to announce an opening for a Trainee Laboratory Technician to become a vital part of our dynamic Microbiology team.
Role Overview: This position does not require prior laboratory experience, as comprehensive training will be provided. Our microbiology department handles hundreds of samples each week from various species helping to diagnose bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections. It is a dynamic department with a lot of opportunity to learn new skills while providing a quality diagnostic service.

Educational Background: GCSE grade C or above in English, Maths, and Science (or equivalent)
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of all types of microbiology sample for testing including swabs, biopsies, faecal and urine samples
- Interpretation of bacterial and fungal cultures
- Antibiotic sensitivity testing, adhering to best practice and playing a role in good antimicrobial stewardship
- Microscopy, interpreting various forms of parasitology and stained slides
- Reporting all results in a clear and concise manner
- Laboratory housekeeping and maintenance
Position Details:
- Hours: Full-time (38 hours per week), Tuesday to Saturday working 07.30 - 16.00 and Saturday working 7:00 – 13:00
- Location: Based at our Harleston site
- Salary: Will be in line with the NMW, with progression opportunities after probation period
