Join Our Team as a Head Veterinary Receptionist

Role Details

  • Location: Doncaster Hospital – 51 Bawtry Road, Doncaster, DN4 7AA
  • Contract: Permanent, Full‑time
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday with a share on the weekend rota

About the Role

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include:

  • Managing the Receptionist team, including training and providing support and guidance
  • Being the point of contact for complaints and escalations
  • Line management and conducting team 1‑2‑1s/check‑ins
  • Creating and managing the team rota
  • Supporting recruitment and liaising with the internal recruitment team

Additional day‑to‑day duties include:

  • Answering phones and booking appointments
  • Responding to queries via phone, in person and email
  • Registering new clients
  • Completing insurance forms
  • Dispensing medications
  • Taking payments
  • Providing a warm and welcoming experience to clients when they arrive at the practice

Who We're Looking For

  • Previous Receptionist experience is essential
  • Leadership skills would be highly desirable
  • Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
  • An excellent communicator with strong empathy
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
  • A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other database management and operating systems
