We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a knowledge of horses to join us as a Receptionist at Western Counties Equine Hospital.

Location: Western Counties Equine Hospital, Culmstock, Devon, EX15 3LA

Contract: 9 Month Fixed Term Contract

Hours: 37.8 hrs per week

Shift Pattern: The office is open Monday – Friday between 08.30 – 17.30. With a 2:5 share in Saturday mornings 08.30 - 13.00.

About the role

Day‑to‑day duties of the role will include:

  • Answering phones and booking appointments
  • Logistical planning of Vet's diaries
  • Responding to queries via phone, in person and email
  • Registering new clients
  • Dealing with account queries and payments
  • Dispensing medications
  • Taking payments
  • Providing a warm and welcoming experience to our clients arriving at the practice

What we're looking for in our Equine Veterinary Receptionist

  • Previous Receptionist experience is essential; veterinary and equine experience is a plus!
  • Experience with horses or equine knowledge is desired
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritise your workload is essential
  • Resilient with the ability to cope with busy and potentially emotional situations
  • An excellent communicator with strong empathy
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
  • A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other database management and operating systems
