Description

What you’ll be doing:

Southdown is the largest not-for-profit provider of care, support and housing in Sussex. We’ve been helping people access stable accommodation, mental health and care services since 1972, and today more than 900 people are part of our team.

As an HR Administrator (known internally as a People Services Administrator), you’ll join our People Services team, providing high-quality administrative support across the employee lifecycle. This includes recruitment and onboarding, absence management, training, employee relations and offboarding.

You’ll be a key point of support for colleagues and managers, helping to ensure our People processes are accurate, responsive and run smoothly. You’ll need to be organised, comfortable managing a varied workload and confident working with detailed and confidential information.

This is an exciting time to join us as we continue to develop and improve our People Services function, including the introduction of a new HR ticketing system. If you’re looking for a varied role where no two days are quite the same, and where you can make a real contribution to the experience of our colleagues, we’d love to hear from you.

We welcome applications from people with experience in roles such as HR Administrator, People Administrator, Recruitment Administrator, Onboarding Administrator, HR Coordinator, HR Services Administrator or similar People/HR support roles.

Perks and benefits

  • Health cost cash-back scheme: access to our health insurance scheme which covers dental, optical, physical therapies and other medical treatments with the option to add greater levels of cover.
  • Interest‑free loans: assistance with larger costs that arise such as tenancy deposits, season travel tickets or buying a car.
  • Access to the Easit Network: discounts and incentives on train, bus and car journeys such as 15% off eligible daily and season rail tickets.
  • Blue Light card: access to discount services for the social care sector with savings across thousands of online shops, restaurants, and high‑street vendors.
  • Free advice and counselling service: confidential emotional support and practical guidance from our independent telephone service.
  • 25 days paid holiday plus bank holidays.

Working arrangements

This is a 37 hours per week role, working Monday to Thursday, 9.00am to 5.00pm, and Friday, 9.00am to 4.30pm. The role is offered on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of two days each week in our Lewes office.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

What you’ll need for the role:

  • Previous experience working in an HR or People Services team
  • Knowledge of UK employment law, GDPR and best HR practices
  • Experience in HR systems including HR Information Systems (HRIS), Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and Learning Management Systems platforms (LMS).
  • Knowledge of Recruitment lifecycle, onboarding compliance, and employment checks.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and a helpful, customer-focused approach

What would be nice:

  • CIPD Level 3 qualification (or working towards it)
