What is the role?
We are looking for a proactive and detail oriented Finance Officer to support the day-to-day operation of our finance function. Working closely with colleagues across fundraising, programme delivery and support services, you will play a vital role in ensuring our financial processes run smoothly, transactions are accurately recorded, and financial information is available to support effective decision-making. What will you be doing?
As Finance Officer, you will support a broad range of finance activities across the organisation. You will:
- Process and reconcile income from donations, grants and fundraising activities.
- Support Gift Aid administration.
- Help monitor restricted funds to ensure income and expenditure are accurately allocated to projects and funding streams.
- Maintain the sales ledger, raise invoices, monitor outstanding debts and work with colleagues to recover overdue balances.
- Manage purchase ledger activities, processing supplier invoices, ensuring appropriate authorisation processes are followed, preparing payment runs and resolving supplier queries.
- Reconcile bank transactions, corporate credit cards and balance sheet accounts, helping to maintain accurate financial records and support effective cashflow management.
- Support month-end processes, management reporting and audit preparation.
- Investigate financial queries, prepare reconciliations and ensure compliance with charity policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping us develop efficient finance systems, reporting processes and ways of working.
Is this you?
We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and passionate about delivering high quality financial support. You'll ideally have:
- AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent finance and accounting experience.
- Previous experience working in a finance, accounts or bookkeeping role, with confidence supporting day-to-day finance operations.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, reliable work.
- Strong IT skills, including experience using Excel and finance systems to manage financial records and data effectively.
- The ability to communicate clearly and build positive working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, funders and other stakeholders.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach, with the confidence to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.
- A willingness to learn, develop your finance knowledge and contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes and systems.
