Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people? Southampton City Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to help shape, develop and manage a new Southampton based high-quality children’s home. This is a pivotal role where you’ll ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment, enabling children and young people to thrive and achieve their potential.

As the Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, delivering excellent care standards, and fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and empowerment. The service will provide a home for four children aged 13-18 years old and will aim to provide a safe, stable environment where children’s needs can be assessed and plans can be formulated to support children to return to living in the community, ideally within a family environment or independent living.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management: Lead and inspire a team of dedicated staff, ensuring effective performance management, training, and development.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Maintain full compliance with Ofsted regulations and other statutory requirements, achieving or exceeding "Good" or "Outstanding" ratings.
  • Child-Centered Care: Develop and implement individualised care plans that meet the needs and aspirations of each child.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure the home provides a safe environment and adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Budget Management: Oversee budgets and resources efficiently to ensure the home operates sustainably.
  • Partnership Working: Build strong relationships with families, professionals, and external agencies to deliver coordinated and holistic support.

About you

We are looking for an exceptional leader with:

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Experience: A proven track record of managing a children’s home or similar setting with demonstrable success in achieving positive outcomes for young people.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding practices.
  • Skills: Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Commitment: A passion for improving the lives of children and young people, with a child-centered approach to care.

Salary: The salary band for this role is £57,755 - £65,222. The starting salary is £57,755 with annual progression through the salary bands. Here at SCC we offer a range of benefits:
