Springwell School is located on the edge of the city of Southampton and is a designated day special school for children aged from 4 to 11 years with complex learning difficulties including speech and language disorders, autism, and challenging behaviours. We are looking to recruit a number of permanent Midday Assistant roles to work across Springwell.

Your contribution

  • Support and motivate the children and encourage independence during the lunch period
  • Assist with ancillary duties; ensuring tables are clean and clear, cleaning up spillages
  • Encourage and support good behaviour by acting as a positive role model
  • Can deal with challenging behaviour, reporting serious issues to senior staff

What will you need?

  • Previous experience of working with children within a school setting is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to liaise with staff at all levels
  • Have enthusiasm, reliability, and resilience
  • Strong sense of teamwork
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding

Working pattern – 7.5 hours per week, Term time only. Monday – Friday: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
