The predicted salary is between 37280 - 40778 £ per year.

Salary: £37,280 - £40,778 per annum pro rata

Contract: Fixed term – 6 months (initially)

Hours: 18.5 hours per week (flexible working and job share opportunities available)

Location: Southampton (minimum 65% time in the office or delivering training in person)

About The Role

This exciting opportunity will play a key role in delivering Southampton City Council’s highly regarded Leadership Essentials Programme, supporting strong, consistent management capability across the organisation.

  • Deliver the Leadership Essentials programme to managers across various areas of the organisation, primarily through face‑to‑face training.
  • Create an engaging learning environment that builds confidence, encourages discussion and supports practical application.
  • Plan delivery around cohort demand and organisational priorities to maintain pace and momentum.
  • Work with HR colleagues to ensure consistent, high‑quality learner experience.
  • Gather and respond to feedback to continuously improve the programme and help to shape wider HR processes.
  • Act as a visible advocate for leadership development and management best practice within the Council.

About You

  • Proven experience delivering leadership and/or management training in group settings, while adapting your approach to support managers with differing levels of capability.
  • Background in the public sector would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Knowledge of how to create inclusive, open and trusted learning spaces that enable people to actively engage, be themselves and develop their confidence and capability.
  • Strong facilitation skills, with the confidence to engage diverse groups and manage different learning dynamics.
  • A practical, solutions‑focused approach to learning delivery.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • The ability to work at pace and respond flexibly to changing priorities.
  • A recognised L&D qualification (Level 4 or above) or equivalent experience (essential).
