We have an exciting opportunity for an Evaluation Lead in the Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) at Southampton City Council (SCC). Through supporting colleagues across the council to evaluate projects and programmes, this post is pivotal to embedding a culture of evidence-informed decision making around the wider determinants of health. Importantly, this post will also be responsible for evaluating the work of the HDRC itself.

In this role, you will support colleagues to conduct in-house evaluations as well as collaborating with external partners to develop evaluation training and resources for SCC staff and elected members. You will also work with academic partners to secure funding for external evaluations of projects, and through your oversight of other evaluations within Southampton, particularly evaluations of place-based initiatives, you will enable linkages between them.

You will continue to develop and implement a framework to evaluate the HDRC itself, including an evaluation of our approach to Public Involvement and Community Engagement. Through this, you will work with colleagues to implement a ‘plan, do, study, act’ model, amending and adapting HDRC and SCC processes and activities according to the findings of the evaluation.

Educated to post‑graduate level, or with equivalent experience, you will have a good knowledge of evaluation methodologies, skills in analysis, and previous experience of research and evaluation.

Salary: The salary band for this role is £47,181 - £51,357 per annum. The starting salary is £47,181 with annual progression through the salary bands.
