We are looking for a suitably qualified environmental health practitioner to join the Council's commercial environmental health team. This role is focussed on regulating businesses operating within the city, to ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety and environmental protection legislation. Southampton has almost 2,000 food businesses and carrying out food hygiene inspections in a range of premises will form a key part of the workload associated with this post. Consequently, the successful candidate must satisfy the qualification requirements for an authorised officer which are set out in the Food Law Code.
The role will involve the investigation of a range of health, safety and environmental protection complaints (including workplace accidents) linked to commercial premises within the city. The team also regulate businesses offering body piercing, tattooing and other beauty treatments.

- Salary: The salary band for this role is £41,771 - £46,141 per annum. The starting salary is £41,771 with annual progression through the salary bands.
