Overview

We are seeking a qualified Building Inspector to join the civic centre-based Building Control team in Southampton. The role covers a wide range of projects including multi-storey housing, new educational buildings, hospitals, industrial units, commercial projects and all types of residential development, as well as safety at sports grounds, dangerous structures, demolitions and LABC partnership work.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on a wide range of building projects including domestic and non-domestic buildings.
  • Deliver high levels of performance and positively influence customers who use our services.
  • Contribute to a successful team environment and wider Building Control activities.
  • Provide guidance in line with Building Safety Regulator (BSR) rules; knowledge of the BSR Operational Rules would be an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified Building Inspector (MRICS or CABE) registered with the Building Safety Regulator at Class 2 (categories A–F).
  • Experience in both domestic and non-domestic buildings.
  • Excellent IT and communication skills.
