Do you want to work to protect people living, working in or visiting Southampton?
We are looking for apprentice trading standards professionals.
Trading standards professionals act as advisors, educators and enforcers to protect consumers. The work is varied, as we investigate complaints and inspect premises to ensure businesses trade fairly and supply products that are safe.
We protect young or vulnerable consumers by making sure that alcohol, tobacco and vapes are sold legally and we ensure that consumers get the products they pay for by checking weights and measures are accurate and food is correctly described.
Southampton is a major port, so our trading standards team also check imported products are safe and meet legal requirements in the UK.
An apprenticeship is an exciting way to develop your career. At Southampton City Council we’re keen to invest in people, so our apprentices are a valuable part of our workforce and the future of the Council.
About You
As an apprentice you’ll receive practical and professional training as you work towards a Level 6 Trading Standards Professional qualification. You will work alongside experienced colleagues who will supervise your development, providing support and guidance throughout your training.
