As an apprentice you’ll receive practical and professional training from the start, working alongside experienced colleagues who will supervise your development and a dedicated mentor providing support and guidance throughout your training. You will have regular reviews with your manager and tutor to track your progress and gain support with any activities to help you progress.

Southampton City Council pays Foundation Living Wage as a minimum; apprentices are paid fairly. Your salary as an apprentice will be £24,309 annually and may increase with any national rise in Foundation Living Wage.
Although we can’t guarantee a permanent job at the end of your apprenticeship, we will support you to apply for other roles within the council and help prepare you for a wider job search with support from our Employment Skills team.
About the role
We are looking for a confident and conscientious individual to undertake the role of Apprentice School Travel Assistant. You will play a key part in the smooth operational running of the busy School Travel Service. You will support the Team Leader for Passenger Assistants by providing administrative support including sickness and absence recording, sourcing cover for sickness/absence, general office and financial administration, answering telephone calls into the service and making outgoing calls related to the service.
You will be working towards the Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship with Fareport. The duration of this apprenticeship is 12 months with 3 months for the End Point Assessment.
