In this role you will undertake research to identify threat, harm and risk issues to the standards as defined within the National Intelligence Model and in accordance with Force priorities. You will conduct research using a wide variety of sources to assess and evaluate information and inform the creation of intelligence products to support decision making at a strategic, tactical and/or operational level.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake research methodologies to produce intelligence and/or inform analytical products, including collecting, collating, and evaluating information from a wide variety of sources.
- Provide research support to the Analytical function and wider Intelligence unit on an ongoing basis to help ensure emerging issues, trends and patterns are identified.
- Obtain information from a wide variety of sources, exploiting all appropriate systems and products, including relevant databases.
- Prepare and deliver research summaries and findings, such as presentations and reports, to inform decision-making.
- Maintain awareness and contribute to achieving the aims of the Force Control Strategy and Force Intelligence Requirements.
- Receive and initiate communication in connection with requests for information, liaising with external and internal sources.
- Attend and present at relevant meetings to ensure effective dissemination of research.
- Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and partners to support information sharing and collaborative working.
- Support the identification and development of new sources and methods of research.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a manual of best practice for research processes.
- Adhere to all legal frameworks, key working principles, policies, and guidance relevant to the role.
- Prepare statements of evidence for court and attend court as a witness if required.
- Perform other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post.
Skills and Experience
- College of Policing Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) qualification or willingness to complete within agreed timescales.
- Skilled in the use of IT packages, systems and/or databases to fulfil role requirements.
- Experience of research and assimilating large volumes of data to prepare and produce research‐based reports.
- Good communication skills with the ability to listen to others and communicate research effectively.
- Ability to prioritise and plan own work and manage time effectively to meet objectives and deadlines.
- Experience of working with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
