In this role you will organise & plan routine tasks in accordance with the direction provided by the Cleaning Supervisor, ensuring that the locations allocated are cleaned to the standard required.

Key responsibilities:

  • To clean in any specified area as instructed by the Area Cleaning Supervisor in accordance with the specification for the Building Cleaning Services and in line with all safety and security measures in operation.
  • Cleaning will include but not be limited to dusting, sweeping, vacuuming and mopping, as well as carrying out deep cleaning and detailed cleaning tasks in accordance with a schedule of work or an ad-hoc basis as required.
  • High levels of attention to detail are required.
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness is essential.
  • Must understand how to handle cleaning products safely, including harsh chemicals.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills to measure cleaning fluids.
  • Ability to operate cleaning tools, such as steam cleaner and floor buffers amongst others as required.
  • Ensure that the security requirement of each location is adhered to at all times.
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities, which do not change the character and purpose.

Skills and experience:

  • Industrial/Commercial Cleaning work history or equivalent.
  • Experience of working to specifications.
  • BIC’s trained or willing to work towards a qualification.
  • Trained in Chemical identification (COSHH) or willing to work towards a qualification.
  • Willing to work unsociable hours as required.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
