Location: Barnsley / Hybrid
Contract: Full-time (35 hours per week Monday to Friday) / Permanent

Responsibilities
- Lead on the coordination and delivery of a wide range of projects to embed continuous improvement within the organisation.
- Manage the strategic finance team and translate strategic objectives into operational plans.
- Act as an external-facing role, managing relationships with external auditors and key suppliers (e.g., banking, custodian, finance software).
- Influence colleagues at all levels, including the Senior Management Team and elected members, by preparing business cases, presenting reports, advising on strategic finance issues, and delivering training and presentations.
Qualifications and experience
- Professional accountancy qualification from a CCAB member body, preferably CIPFA, with current membership and up-to-date CPD.
- Significant professional experience in public sector finance, ideally within Local Government or the Local Government Pension Scheme.
- Proven track record in translating strategic objectives into operational plans and in managing staff in a financial environment.
