South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) is embarking on an ambitious Digital Transformation Programme β€” and we’re looking for a dedicated Tester to ensure our new digital tools, including a transformative CRM system, are robust, reliable, and ready to deliver real impact.

The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) brings together the local authorities of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield to serve the communities and businesses of South Yorkshire. We follow a structured salary grading system for all roles, and the offered salary for each post will be at the starting point within the specified grade. Key Responsibilities

As a Tester here at SYMCA, you’ll be at the heart of our digital evolution, leading the testing lifecycle across a suite of platforms including CRM, SharePoint, Windows 11, and Copilot. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our solutions meet business needs, are user-friendly, and perform flawlessly.

  • Leading end-to-end testing activities β€” from planning and execution to defect management.
  • Translating business requirements into effective test conditions.
  • Coordinating and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensuring usability, accessibility, and security are built into every solution.
  • Driving continuous improvement in testing practices and tools.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Proven experience in software testing across diverse platforms (Essential).
  • Hands-on experience with CRM systems β€” ideally Microsoft Dynamics (Essential).
  • Familiarity with tools like Azure DevOps, Jira, or TestRail (Essential).
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies (Essential).
  • ISTQB or equivalent certification (Essential).
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable experience:

  • Experience in public sector or regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of automation tools like Selenium or Postman.
  • Exposure to integration testing across platforms like Office 365 and SharePoint.
