We are seeking an ambitious Business Continuity and Emergency Resilience Officer to join our Emergency Preparedness and Corporate Security team.
This is an officer role working on critical workstreams across business continuity, resilience and emergency planning. The role will play a vital part in building a more resilient and better prepared SYMCA to tackle current and future risks and disruptions.

About the role
You will contribute to multiple workstreams shaping how SYMCA will respond to disruptions and emergencies whether internally through our business continuity programme or externally through engagement with Local Resilience Forum.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to create risk assessments, write emergency plans, train staff on their roles and responsibilities and validate these plans have been successfully created and understood. Engagement with a wide number of partners will be essential to understand their operating environment and how they can be best prepared to tackle emerging risks that may occur.
About you
- You have experience in working in complex organisations with emergency planning, business continuity, risk management, exercising or operating within a Local Resilience Forum.
- You are confident working across multiple interdisciplinary teams to deliver outcomes based in best-practice adapted to the needs and requirements of the organisation.
- You are able to work across multiple concurrent projects to deliver successful outputs in line with management and organisational priorities.
- You are keen to work within multiple exciting projects and business areas within SYMCA, such as Bus Franchising to ensure that emergency planning and business continuity best practice is embedded across the organisation.
- This role may be required to become part of an on-call roster in the future. This will only occur based on discussions once appointed.
