About the role

As a Communications Officer, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to improve lives across South Yorkshire. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, partners, and colleagues to plan and deliver impactful communications that support our strategic priorities and enhance our reputation. From crafting compelling content and managing digital channels, to supporting high-profile campaigns and events, you’ll bring energy, creativity and clarity to everything you do. You’ll also play a vital role in internal communications, helping to keep our teams informed, engaged and aligned with our values.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting campaigns that promote key projects and initiatives across the region.
  • Writing and editing content for press releases, social media, websites, newsletters, and more.
  • Coordinating events, launches, and internal engagement activities.
  • Monitoring and evaluating communications impact and audience engagement.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a degree or equivalent experience in PR, journalism, media, or a related field.
  • Brings experience from a fast-paced communications, media, or political environment.
  • Is confident creating content across multiple platforms and channels.
  • Has excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Understands the importance of inclusive, audience-focused communication.
  • Can juggle multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines with confidence and creativity.

Experience in internal communications, stakeholder engagement or digital content is especially welcome. Please see the full list of essential and desirable criteria for this role within the attached role profile.
