Our Housing First service in Rotherham provides a secure home to people who are currently homeless or at risk of becoming homeless due to other complexities, which may include mental health conditions, domestic abuse, substance misuse or offending behaviour. We believe that everyone has the right to a safe and secure place to call home and the stability that brings.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Key Worker to work within our team. Our approach is to work with customers based on their strengths. We are looking for an individual with real commitment to supporting our customers to achieve their aspirations, goals and help them maximise their full potential.
More about the role:
Our aim is to provide a stable, independent home and intensive personalised support to homeless people with multiple and complex needs following the Housing First principles and model of support. The role can be challenging and is highly rewarding.
To be successful, you will:
- Equip our customers with personal, social, vocational and practical life skills; enabling them to take control of their life, live independently within the community and successfully manage their tenancy.
- Have a full driving license and access to a vehicle.
- DBS check required.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the needs and risks our customers experience and an understanding of how to develop plans of support to overcome these.
- Use strengths-based approaches to support individuals to realise their potential.
- Work closely with external organisations in providing all round support.

You will demonstrate enthusiasm about helping others, be approachable and encouraging with customers to achieve their goals. The successful candidate will need to:
- Have experience of supporting vulnerable people in the community and working closely with partner agencies.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the needs and risks our customers experience and develop plans to overcome these.
- Be a great communicator both verbally and in writing.
- Have a creative approach to problem solving.
- Be able to use a wide range of digital software.
- Great organisation and observational skills.
- Possess a positive "Can Do" solution focused attitude to fit in with a small team and build on the successes of this excellent service.
Our wider benefits:
- Salary - £23,582.
- Working hours - 37 hours per week - Monday to Friday may include evenings depending on needs of customers.
- Eligible for essential car user allowance of £94.36 per month plus mileage expenses.
- Generous holiday entitlement - 27 days annual leave, statutory bank holidays plus an additional 4 SYHA days, pro rata.
