Overview
As a Property Services Officer, you will inspect multiple locations/properties, diagnose issues, produce technical surveys and specifications, and raise works orders for repairs and maintenance.
You will obtain quotations and estimates in line with the South Yorkshire Housing Association's Financial Framework while demonstrating value for money.
You will provide advice to staff and Residents regarding repairs and maintenance, record and collate accurate information on SYHA’s IT system, and carry out post inspections to assess quality and value of works and works in progress checks.
You will monitor and manage Works in Progress and overdue works orders for your service area and play an integral part in delivering our Responsive Repairs contract.
You will support the management of our approved contractors to ensure works are delivered to a high standard, on time, and to specification.
The role may require you to provide cover for other Property Services Officers as workloads dictate.
You will be responsible for health and safety in the workplace in line with the Health and Safety policy and participate in relevant training and development.
The role reports to Paul Allen, Contract Manager for Responsive Repairs and Voids.

The role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Attend various locations to inspect, diagnose, and raise works orders for repairs and maintenance.
- Deliver the Responsive Repairs contract and support the management of approved contractors to ensure high-quality, on-time, and to-specification work.
- Record and maintain accurate maintenance information on the IT system; monitor Works in Progress and overdue orders.
- Obtain quotations and estimates within the Financial Framework and demonstrate Value for Money.
- Provide advice to staff and residents on repairs and maintenance issues.
- Ensure health and safety compliance and participate in relevant training.
- Cover duties for other Property Services Officers as required.
- Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to achieve service targets.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: Practical background in property maintenance, repair diagnostics, and contractor management.
- Customer Focus: Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service and handling tenant repairs.
- IT & Digital Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and confidence with digital systems.
- Problem Solving: Excellent observational, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
- Organisation: Strong time-management skills and ability to maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Behaviours: Strong communication and interpersonal skills when liaising with contractors, tenants, and internal teams.
- Adaptability: Proactive, self-motivated attitude with a flexible approach to work.

- Salary: £34,339; Working hours: 37 per week; essential car user allowance of £94.36 per month plus mileage expenses; driving licence essential.
