About the Role

An opportunity has arisen within our Business Fire Safety section for a Principal Administrator, based at Barnsley Fire Station, Broadway, Barnsley, S70 6QZ with Agile working.

Principal Administrator Hours / Work Pattern: Full Time 37 Hours per week (Flexi Time)

Contract: Permanent

Base: Barnsley Fire Station, Broadway, Barnsley, S70 6QZ + Agile working.

Salary: £26,403 ( £28,142 (Grade 4) )

Key Duties:

  • Processing incoming mail
  • Use of Microsoft Applications, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Telephone queries
  • Review of internal applications to issue inspections to Business Fire Safety Inspectors, including follow‑ups to fires and unwanted fire signals
  • Allocation of inspection and follow‑up work for Business Fire Safety Inspectors
  • Input and retrieval of information from the database to assist with statistical reports
  • Data cleansing
  • Deputise for the Protection Administration Officer and serve as the single point of contact in their absence
  • Organise and take minutes of regular departmental meetings

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Administration or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proven experience in administrative work, working accurately and efficiently to meet tight deadlines
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Ability to plan, manage and prioritise workloads
