An opportunity has arisen within our Business Intelligence section for a Strategic Performance and Insights Partner, based at Headquarters in Sheffield.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the management of performance functions within South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue (SYFR), ensuring robust data governance, insightful performance reporting, and evidence-based decision support.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the organisation by developing and embedding performance management frameworks, coordinating service improvement events, and supporting strategic decision-making through high-quality data and analysis.
  • Develop and implement performance management frameworks and produce corporate performance reports.
  • Oversee data collection systems, ensure data quality, and manage the Data Quality Analysts.
  • Roll out data literacy and quality training, review performance indicators, coordinate statutory data returns, and support the development of strategic documents and policies.

What you will need:

  • Proven track record of managing teams to meet deadlines and experience influencing senior managers.
  • Adept at evaluating reports and procedures to identify improvements, writing high-quality reports, and using analytical tools such as Excel or Power BI to analyse complex data sets.
  • Experience in designing and applying performance management frameworks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical techniques, data quality principles, and relevant legislation such as GDPR.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of statistical techniques and data quality principles.
  • Experience with GDPR and related data governance obligations.

Salary and Benefits:

  • 28 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus Bank Holidays. Leave increases after 5 years’ service to 32 days, followed by an extra day per year up to 37 days.
