About the Role
Our drivers commit to a varying shift pattern over 24 hours, 7 days a week to keep our services running. Because this role is safety‑critical, you must be able to get to your depot within a maximum of 60‑minute commute time.
Schedule and Hours
Drivers work an average of 35 hours over 4 days a week, while training you will work 40.5 hours over 5 days a week.

Training & Development
We provide an exceptional training programme to equip you with the skills, knowledge and practical experience needed to become a great driver. Much of the training is delivered at our facility in Basingstoke, but you will undertake hands‑on training at your local depot. From day one you will be working towards a Level 3 Train Driver Apprenticeship, delivered by our Operations Training team and partner training provider.

You don’t need prior qualifications or rail industry knowledge, but you must have dedication, drive and strong interpersonal skills to be your best self every day.
Salary & Benefits
We offer a competitive salary. Trainee drivers start at £37,865 per annum plus regional allowances. During the approximately 14‑18 month training your salary will rise as you reach key milestones. A fully productive driver earns £79,604 per annum plus allowances. Additional benefits include travel concessions, a reward and recognition scheme and opportunities for progression.
