South Western Railway (SWR) operates over 1,500 services each weekday across the network and employs more than 5,000 people. We provide easy and convenient mobility, connecting people and communities in South West London, southern counties of England, and the Isle of Wight.
The holder of this post is responsible for the cleaning and presentation of trains for Bournemouth Traincare Depot to the specifications as laid down in the Train Presentation Handbook. Comply with instructions, Rules and Regulations in force.
Your main responsibilities:
- Ensure your personal safety and that of others at all times, including that of visitors and contractors.
- Provide proactive information that delivers higher and improved train presentation standards.
- Report defects found.
- Carry out Environmental Exams and report defects as necessary.
- Advise all work carried out.
- Work to be undertaken to comply with South Western Railway quality procedures.
- Work to be undertaken in a safe manner using the required personal protection equipment supplied.
- Observe COSHH regulations in place.
As a minimum, you will need to have:
- Good knowledge of all carriage cleaning procedures, specifications and COSHH regulations.
- Basic communication skills both written and oral.
- Knowledge of safety requirements.
About the location:
Bournemouth Depot is home to a number of South Western Railway's fleet. The engineering team at the depot are currently responsible for numerous projects such as the major component overhaul work on the 159 fleet, the Desiro repaint on the class 444's and 450's and the latest modification project on our exciting new Arterio fleet that is set to transform travel on our suburban routes by offering customers much faster and more reliable journeys!
Working pattern:
You will work an average of 37 hours across an average of 4.75 days per week as part of a 3-week rolling roster.
- Week 1: Monday - Friday
- Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Friday-Sunday
- Week 3: Wednesday - Friday
