Overview

Are you passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities and committed to improving their quality of life? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Assistant Psychologist to join the Community Learning Disabilities Health Team in Barnsley.

You will join an experienced, well-established and committed specialist multi-disciplinary team based in Barnsley. The Team includes psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, learning disability nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapist, speech and language therapists, dietician, therapy assistants and healthcare support workers. The team supports adults (18+) with diagnosed learning disabilities and their families/carers.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support the clinical psychologists and the wider team to provide a comprehensive specialist health service to adults with a learning disability. They will be trained to carry out assessments and prescribed psychological interventions. They will support the team to manage referrals and the team caseload. The team has a proactive clinical research and service evaluation programme which the assistant will join. They will also work with other professionals in the team across our clinical pathways. The ability to work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team and wider multi-agency teamwork is essential.

We are looking for a highly motivated psychology graduate with a positive and progressive outlook who aspires to provide the best standard of care and support for service users.
