Do you enjoy getting to the root of a problem and driving it through to a solution? Looking for your next hands-on maintenance role? We're recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join our sub-regional MEICA team working in Cornwall to support the maintenance of our operational assets. This is a full-time role, with the need to participate in an on-call/standby rota when trained.

About the role: This role assists in the planning, coordination and delivery of maintenance and improvement activity across mechanical, electrical and ICA assets. As well as supporting with reactive breakdowns, you'll be carrying out routine maintenance activities, planned preventative maintenance and regulatory inspections.

What you'll be doing:

  • Planning, coordinating, and delivering programmes of maintenance work and site upgrades.
  • ICA installations, commissioning and fault finding across ICA, electrical and mechanical.
  • Providing practical and technical support to the craft maintenance and operational site teams as and when required, to include planned and reactive activities.
  • Identifying root causes of plant failure and/or sub-optimal performance and take ownership of resolving those issues.
  • Improving the reliability and performance of the assets at our water treatment production sites.
  • Preparing documentation associated with work activity such as risk assessments and method statements.
  • Maintaining familiarity of the operation of a wide range of assets and equipment, including the review of task instructions, updating when necessary.
  • Carrying out activities in accordance with instructions, policies, procedures and statutory requirements - while maintaining high standards of site cleanliness.
  • Liaising with other Pennon teams outside of Drinking Water Services including Information Services, Operational Technology and Workshops in addition to external partners and contractors.

What we're looking for:

  • 5 GCSEs at grade A-C including Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • ICA/electrical/electrotechnical apprenticeship with relevant qualifications (City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC/HNC/HND).
  • Experience with instrumentation, control and automation and working with PLC systems and infrastructure.
  • Strong background in electrical installation, commissioning, and support, particularly for control systems and power distribution.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and ICA (Instrumentation, Control & Automation) equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve operational issues.
  • Understanding of a range of assets, equipment and treatment processes.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Flexibility to work in a range of locations and participate in on-call/standby rota.
