South West Water keeps the South West flowing with safe, reliable drinking water and wastewater services across some of the UK's most stunning landscapes. We're proud to be part of Pennon Group, a leader in the UK water sector, working towards a greener future. Our goals include lowering our carbon footprint, planting 300,000 trees, restoring peatlands, and supporting farmers and landowners to improve water quality and wildlife.

The Water Demand Performance Manager will support the delivery of water demand reduction targets through rigorous performance monitoring, benefit realisation review, and in-year optimisation of demand strategies across South West Water, Bristol Water, Bournemouth Water, SES Water, and the Isles of Scilly. The role sits within the Demand Strategy team, which is responsible for developing and continuously refining strategies to deliver the demand reductions required under the Environment Act, covering leakage, Household (HH) demand, and Non-Household (NHH) demand. The team provides technical leadership, insight, and assurance for demand planning over the short, medium, and long term (in-year, AMP period, and up to 50-year horizons).

This role will play a key part in supporting the Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) demand programme by providing performance evidence, analysis, and commentary to inform decision-making and future investment choices.

What you'll be doing:

  • Monitor, analyse, and forecast in-AMP demand activities and performance.
  • Own reporting for key demand metrics (DI, PCC, and NHH), providing insight, trends, and narrative.
  • Work with Data and Modeling and other teams to maintain robust, compliant monitoring frameworks and data quality.
  • Evaluate demand initiatives, identifying performance issues and recommending adaptations to meet targets.
  • Analyse demand and consumption trends to understand drivers and intervention impacts.
  • Produce clear reports and presentations for senior leaders, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain auditable documentation and undertake regular data quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery and implementation.
  • Support budget development and cost planning for demand strategy initiatives.
  • Contribute to research, continuous professional development, and industry knowledge sharing.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of water demand monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience producing reports, presentations, and technical documentation for varied audiences.
  • Knowledge of water resource management practices, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise work and manage multiple, changing demands.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across the region and attend national meetings as required.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a scientific, environmental, or numerate discipline.

Desirable:

  • Professional membership of a recognised industry body.
  • Experience working within a water company or regulated utility.
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets and clearly communicate insights to non-technical audiences.

What's in it for you:

We know that the support and commitment of our staff is key to our success, so you will receive the opportunity for ongoing development and training for a long-term career with us. In return, we offer an excellent range of benefits including:

  • Generous holiday allowance plus bank holidays.
  • A discretionary bonus.

  • Various health benefits.
  • Wellbeing support programmes.
  • A range of group discounts.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Financial support services.
  • And plenty more!
