We’re currently recruiting a Catchment Technician to join our recovery & treatment team based in Bideford. The role is a permanent, full‑time position with a salary range of £29,934 – £40,668 per annum and opportunities to enter our progression scheme. A salary uplift allowance is provided for standing‑by duties.
About the Role
As the Catchment Technician, you will support wastewater services treatment and sewage pumping station managers, and the wider wastewater services management team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Pollution investigation and support, including engagement in Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Support the team during reactive response to compliance hotspots to resolve issues and suggest solutions
- Incident management and recovery
- Provide technical support to Waste Water Operational Teams to help with compliance, efficiency and asset reliability
- Develop detailed action plans and contingencies
- Conduct H&S investigations and hazard resolution
- Optimise assets, including contribution to the Smart Alarm project
- Respond to technical enquiries and customer correspondence, providing technical information where required
- Support the management team in ensuring governance processes are discharged (e.g., fire alarm testing at AD sites, WAMITAB TCM site inspections, H&S inspections)
- Field support for energy and water efficiency programmes
What We Are Looking For
- 5 GCSEs at grades A‑C or equivalent, including Maths, English and a Science subject; or equivalent qualifications such as ONC/City and Guilds, NVQ Waste Water Process or Sewerage Control Level 2, HNC/Water Diploma
- Technical outlook and ability to analyse and manage varied data sources to support decision‑making and present information for action
- Proficiency with computer systems, including MS Office
- Adaptability to changes within the wastewater services team and flexibility to support the wider team
- Full UK Driver’s Licence
- Ability to undertake out‑of‑hours standby duties
- Mandatory DBS check required
