We currently have an opportunity available for a Mechanical Craftsperson to join our team in Barnstaple on a full-time, permanent basis. Salary: £34,368 – £40,729 per annum, plus benefits.
About the role: As our Mechanical Craftsperson you will fault find, repair and maintain South West Water (SWW) assets across a range of company sites, predominantly water treatment works, pumping stations and service reservoirs, to maximise asset availability and support SWW Vision by minimising risk to compliance and preventing pollution.
What you will be doing
- Carry out reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment to the highest standard of workmanship
- Provide detailed specifications of parts for ordering stock replacements and repairs
- Manufacturing and fabrication of parts and equipment
- Undertake training to carry out work activities in a safe or legal manner
- Carry out work activities as scheduled
- Assist Operational staff with resolution of complex problems
- Keep internal customers updated with activities that may impact their processes
- Use or request method statements and safe systems of work for activities
- Act as the duty Mechanical Craftsperson on a standby/call-out rota
What we are looking for
- Completed apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline
- Full understanding of RAMS to deliver an effective and safe maintenance regime
- Experience of working with Waste Water treatment processes would be desirable
- Ability to fault find and repair large, complex mechanical equipment
