We're recruiting for a Customer Leakage Technician to join our team working in Devon, covering Exeter, Plymouth and Totnes areas. Joining us on a full-time, permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary, ranging from £29,291 - £36,932 per annum, with the opportunity to earn more through our company progression scheme. In addition, you will also receive a salary uplift allowance for taking part in the standby rota.
As a Customer Leakage Technician, you'll be the friendly, knowledgeable face supporting customers who are experiencing leaks on their private pipework. Working directly with customers, colleagues and partner organisations, you'll help ensure leaks are resolved quickly, fairly and efficiently, while delivering an excellent customer experience at all times. You'll also play a key role in promoting water efficiency and supporting demand reduction, helping customers understand how they can use water more responsibly.
What you'll be doing:
- Acting as the main point of contact for customers with leakage on private pipework, providing clear advice and practical support.
- Working closely with Customer Services and the wider Leakage and Drinking Water Services teams to deliver leakage reduction targets and KPIs.
- Surveying and promoting intervention repairs, capturing accurate information and managing customer communication.
- Monitoring progress of customer leakage cases using reporting tools and ensuring data is recorded accurately.
- Liaising with third parties such as councils, housing associations and repair contractors.
- Supporting the enforcement process under Section 75 of the Water Industry Act 1991, where required.
- Carrying out investigations and reports to support customer complaints and service responses.
- Promoting water efficiency and demand management in day-to-day customer interactions.
- Providing cover and support within the Customer Leakage team, including participation in a standby rota.
What we are looking for:
Essential:
- Experience in customer service and/or complaint resolution.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers and stakeholders.
- Good technical understanding or aptitude, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear actions.
- Resilience and flexibility in a busy operational environment.
- Basic IT skills and general health & safety awareness.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including standby duties.
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2 in Leakage Detection, City & Guilds, or ONC in a relevant subject.
- Experience in leakage control or water distribution networks.
- Knowledge of water efficiency or demand reduction initiatives.
- Technical understanding of network hydraulics and household plumbing systems.
