We currently have an opportunity available for a Mechanical Craftsperson to join our team working in Barnstaple. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a salary of £34,368 - £40,729 per annum, plus benefits.
About the role: As our Mechanical Engineer you will fault find, repair and maintain South West Water (SWW) assets across a range of company sites, predominantly Water treatment works, pumping stations and service reservoirs. To help ensure maximum asset availability and support the SWW Vision by assisting in minimising risk to compliance and preventing pollutions.
What you will be doing:
- Carry out reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment to the highest standard of workmanship
- Providing recommended/detailed specifications of parts for ordering of stock replacements and parts needed to undertake repairs
- Manufacturing and fabrication of parts and equipment
- Undertaking any training required in order to carry out work activities in a safe or legal manner
- Carrying out work activities as scheduled
- Assisting Operational staff with the resolution of complex problems
- Keeping our internal customers updated with activities which may impact on their processes
- Using or if necessary requesting method statements and safe systems of work for the activities you carry out
- Acting as the duty Mechanical Craftsperson on a standby/call-out rota basis
What we are looking for:
- A completed apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline
- A full understanding of related RAMS to deliver an effective and safe maintenance regime
- Experience of working with Waste Water treatment processes would be desirable
- Ability to fault find and repair large complex pieces of mechanical equipment
