We’re recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team, supporting the maintenance and repair of assets across a range of South West Water sites. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering safe, reliable water services to communities across the Okehampton area.
Salary & Benefits
- £37,389 - £47,947 per annum
- Additional earning potential through standby/on-call arrangements

What you’ll be doing:
- Working on fixed plant on Water Treatment sites & Network Assets to fault find, repair and maintain equipment, such as gearboxes, pumps and specialist treatment process machinery
- Manufacture and fabricate parts and equipment.
- Assisting operational staff with the resolution of complex problems.
- Working with other disciplines in a workshop/mobile team.
- Act as duty mechanical craftsperson on a call-out rota basis on both Water and Wastewater sites.
- Make site operators familiar with any new plant or equipment.
- Working in confined spaces, if required and using breathing apparatus.
- Adhering to health and safety policies and regulations, including working with or in close proximity to chemicals in accordance with COSHH and QMS procedures.
What we’re looking for:
- A completed apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline.
- The ability to fault find and repair large complex pieces of mechanical equipment.
- The ability to deliver effective maintenance services in both workshop and site environments.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Computer literate.
- Able to flexibly work as part of a standby/on-call rota.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to sites throughout the region.
