Great new opportunity for an Operational Technology ICA Technician to join our team at Tolgus Depot. Starting salary from £36,008 plus excellent benefits (depending on experience). This role offers the chance to build your technical qualifications and progress within a supportive operational team.

The Role

  • Maintain and calibrate regulatory monitoring equipment, analytical instrumentation and process sensors across our operations.
  • Complete planned maintenance and respond quickly to operational issues, carrying out onsite analysis, diagnosis and problem resolution while ensuring compliance with established standards and change processes.
  • Manage changing priorities with a positive, flexible approach.
  • Work with varied technology including sensors, instrumentation, process control and telemetry.

What you’ll be doing

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on instrumentation, telemetry and regulatory equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve operational issues quickly to maintain performance and compliance.
  • Support cost-effective improvements and ensure adherence to standards and change processes.
  • Work collaboratively with OT, ICA, mechanical and electrical teams to prioritise and deliver work.
  • Use electrical/control/process knowledge to optimise systems and reduce operational risk.
  • Assist with root-cause investigations and drive effective resolutions.
  • Contribute to compliance with legislation (e.g., UK NIS) and support technical standards.
  • Promote strong health & safety practices and support risk assessments and safe working procedures.
  • Maintain skills through required training and support IT/OT governance and documentation updates.

What we’re looking for

  • GCSEs (Maths, English, Science) or equivalent, plus relevant industrial control apprenticeship/qualifications and ONC/HNC in a related discipline.
  • Experience with process control, ELV/LV electrical systems and PLCs (ideally Schneider), including programming and communication protocols.
  • Strong fault-finding and repair skills, with knowledge of instrumentation calibration, process sensors, telemetry and low-power radio systems.
  • ATEX/CompEx certified and compliant with current IEE regulations.
  • Experience in drinking and waste water treatment automation processes.
  • Excellent IT, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.
  • Proactive, innovative and safety-focused, promoting wellbeing and safe working practices.
  • Understands information security policies, builds strong stakeholder relationships, and maintains up-to-date technical and business knowledge.
  • Full UK drivers licence and able to travel around the work area using company vehicle.
  • Ability to complete UK Government Security Clearance (SC) process successfully.
