At Bristol Water, we've been making people healthier and the economy stronger since 1846. We serve generations of families and will continue to do so. Our aim is to have a positive impact on people and the planet for generations. We don't just provide water; we keep our customers healthy and help them grow. Our 600 employees are also at the heart of this mission.

As one of the smallest water companies in the UK, we are nimble and can achieve things quickly for our customers and our people. In June 2021, we became part of the Pennon group, which also owns South West Water and Bournemouth Water. This partnership offers the dynamism and fast pace of a smaller company, along with the security and breadth of opportunity that comes with being part of a large organisation.

If you’re an angler who knows their way around a reservoir, this role is built for you. You’ll be based across nine Bristol Water lakes, including Chew Valley Lake and Blagdon Lake, which are renowned in UK angling. These reservoirs support the region's drinking water supply, protect important wildlife habitats, and are home to Bristol Water Fisheries, one of the UK's premier fisheries.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the day-to-day operation of a premier UK fishery
  • Prepare, clean and maintain fishing boats and angling equipment
  • Work at our fish farm, helping rear and care for fish stock
  • Welcome anglers, check tickets and share local fishing knowledge
  • Monitor fish welfare, water conditions and site safety
  • Maintain banks, jetties, car parks and access points
  • Look after our Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs), helping protect sensitive habitats while keeping fishing and recreation running smoothly
  • Engage positively with members of the public, from regular anglers to first-time visitors
  • Take responsibility for site safety and visitor satisfaction, ensuring everyone enjoys the lakes safely and responsibly
  • Act as a visible, knowledgeable presence on the water - approachable, professional and firm when needed

Generous salary: £27,595 pro rata equivalent to (£13.95 per hour). Fixed-term contract until late November, working 30 or 38 hours per week, 4 or 5 days, 2 weekends out of 3.
