We are currently hiring for a Sewage Pumping Stations Operator position in Bodmin. This is a permanent, full-time role offering a competitive salary of £25,299 per year, along with a progression scheme, standby allowance, and excellent benefits.

The Catchment Operator (Waste Water) will inspect, maintain, and improve the sewerage network. This customer-facing role involves delivering excellent service during planned and emergency situations. Once trained, you will participate in a 1 in 5 standby and call-out rotation, which you must be signed on to do.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing real-time feedback and reports to support decision-making and performance tracking
  • Completing reactive and planned work to high standards, including pollution response, flooding events, blockage clearance, and maintenance of small sewage pumping stations and CSOs
  • Adhering to Risk Assessments and Safety Instructions, and improving safety procedures
  • Assessing on-site problems using logic and initiative to find solutions
  • Ensuring all work maintains high service standards, handling sensitive issues calmly and politely
  • Monitoring site conditions and environmental compliance, responding rapidly to pollution reports
  • Carrying out first-line maintenance on instruments and mechanical equipment
  • Working independently with jetting vehicles and as part of a team on larger issues
  • Undertaking standby and call-out duties, including evenings and weekends on a rota
Qualifications and experience required:
  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent in Maths, English, and Science (grades A-C)
  • Desirable: NVQ 2 in Waste Water Operations
  • Experience working in a team and independently, using initiative to solve problems
  • Experience operating and maintaining complex processes with modern technology
