Are you an experienced Technician looking for a new role within a high-performing team? Do you want to contribute to the wider community, with the support of a progressive and environmentally aware employer? We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for an Asset Performance Technician to join our team working in Cornwall. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive starting salary of £28,000 which will increase to £35,000 in line with the company progression scheme plus standby & overtime opportunities.
About The Role:
In this role you will monitor the performance of Drinking Water Services assets through regular data collection, assessment and analysis. You will assist in the design and delivery of planned maintenance programmes and capital improvements across the DWS Network asset base as well as identifying and promoting improvements to ensure that the water supply network delivers a reliable service to meet our customer needs.
What you’ll be doing:
- Reporting to the Network Asset Manager, other responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring health and safety is paramount with health and welfare as the top priority.
- Ensure all asset works are safely undertaken, with the welfare and health the top priority.
- Liaising with the Asset Management Team, Central Supply Team and third-party suppliers to develop a programme of work to deliver the company’s strategic revenue and capital maintenance programmes.
- Working with the Network Asset Manager to plan and organise all resources in the operational area including the coordination of working methods, resources and systems to meet outcome requirements.
- Completion of complex RAMS documents for network activities including trunk main repairs, installations and SR cleaning.
- Ensuring operational activities comply with requirements of New Roads Streetworks Act, Traffic Management Act and in particular the transition to Permits in the region.
- Liaising with all stakeholders (including Developers, Alliance Partners, The Environment Agency, DWI, Highway Authorities, local Councils, community groups, businesses and customer groups) to ensure work is carried out with minimum impact.
- Providing key support to the Drinking Water Services function in the event of emergencies.
- Participating in DWS Network standby duties.
What we are looking for:
- 5 GCSEs at grades A-C or equivalent in Maths, English and a Science subject; or IOSH/NEBOSH Health & Safety Qualifications (or ability to achieve).
- Relevant experience in Water Distribution operation and management.
- Technical understanding of water network operations, maintenance and improvement and hydraulics within water distribution systems.
- Knowledge and experience of computer systems such as MS Office, corporate systems and external portals.
- Surveying skills to be able to assess street work requirements and asset improvements.
- Map/plan reading skills to be able to interpret complex information in schematic form.
- Resilient and adaptable to change, has the ability to change plans and turn attention to high priorities.
- Full UK Drivers Licence.
