Bristol Water is seeking a motivated and detail-focused Quality Control Analyst to join our Scientific Services team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the quality, integrity, and compliance of our laboratory operations, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water. This role would suit a detail-focused and well-organised individual with strong communication skills and a commitment to accuracy and regulatory compliance. You’ll be confident following defined procedures, able to challenge non-conforming work professionally, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. You’ll take pride in delivering high-quality, compliant work, enjoy problem-solving, and be flexible in responding to changing operational demands. All work is carried out in accordance with Water Quality Regulations, ISO/IEC 17025, Drinking Water Testing Specification (DWTS), and Bristol Water’s internal procedures.
What you’ll be doing:
- Calibrating and maintaining analytical laboratory equipment in line with agreed schedules and standards
- Preparing standard, control, spike, and proficiency testing solutions
- Maintaining the Scientific Services document control system and ensuring documentation remains current and compliant
- Recording, investigating, and reporting non-conforming work, including supporting corrective actions
- Reviewing analytical data, Shewhart control charts, and validation results to ensure ongoing compliance
- Supporting the validation and performance monitoring of analytical equipment
- Conducting internal audits and following up on audit findings
- Assisting with sample handling and providing general laboratory support when required
What we’re looking for:
- Essential Laboratory experience including equipment calibration and GLP (good Laboratory Practices) standards
- Experience of quality assurance processes
- Auditing and investigative skills
- Strong IT skills, including spreadsheets, databases, and data handling
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in statistical evaluation of analytical data
- A Level (or equivalent) in a Science or Maths subject (grade C or above)
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Degree in Environmental Science or a related scientific discipline
- Knowledge of Water Supply (Quality) Regulations, ISO/IEC 17025, and DWTS
- Experience using LIMS
- Membership of a professional body (e.g. Royal Society of Biology or Chemistry)
