Catchment Operator – Barnstaple

Full‑time, permanent position.

Competitive salary of £27,522 per annum, with progression potential up to £34,460 at level 5.

Salary uplift allowance available for standby rota and weekend working.

Core hours: 37 hrs per week with a 1‑in‑5 week standby and call‑out/weekend rota once training is complete.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out on‑site monitoring and maintenance to ensure effective site operation and maintain compliance.
  • Respond effectively to site conditions and monitoring information to protect the environment.
  • Store and handle chemicals in accordance with COSHH, QMS procedures and Health and Safety standards.
  • Use the i SCADA control system.
  • Adhere to timely schedules, business rules and procedures.
  • Liaise with other team members and business areas to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Deal effectively with customer queries and pass information up the management line where appropriate.
  • Work flexible hours, including standby, call‑outs, evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
  • Travel throughout the region and assist other zones as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Previous practical role experience is beneficial; induction will provide all required training.
  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent in Maths, English and a Science subject.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions.
