We are seeking an experienced CNC shop floor Supervisor to lead an aerospace engineering workshop. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, experience in supervising a team, and expertise in utilising CNC machines.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the workshop team to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of projects.
- Oversee the manufacturing and maintenance of aerospace components using CNC machines.
- Train, mentor, and provide guidance to workshop personnel, including CNC machinists, to optimise their performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in the workshop environment.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to prioritise and schedule work orders based on operational and customer requirements.
- Experience in managing several shop floor machinists, both skilled & semi-skilled.
- Must be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- Motivate and drive workforce.
- Be a problem solver - investigate, advise & recommend solutions.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within an engineering workshop, preferably in the aerospace industry.
- Proficiency with CNC machines, as well as familiarity with CAD/CAM software.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse team.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and a commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive work environment.
Day-to-day:
- As the Engineering Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the workshop.
- Collaborating with the team on project planning and execution.
- Conducting performance evaluations.
- Actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
- You will also interface with other departments to ensure seamless workflow and address any production challenges that may arise.
- Monitoring production flow.
- Maintain processes & procedures.
- Maximising cycle times.
- Keeping machines running and meeting OEE targets.
Hours: Monday to Thursday 7.30am - 4.30pm and 7.30am - 12.30pm Friday (39 hours)
Salary: Up to £24 per hour depending on experience, equating to £48,672 per annum.
