We are seeking skilled and dedicated CNC Millers to join our team, working on Mazak and Haas machines. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals to contribute to a dynamic and innovative environment. The role is based in Durham and operates on a double-shift pattern, offering competitive pay rates and additional benefits.
Shift Pattern
- 1st Week: Monday - Thursday: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Friday: 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- 2nd Week: Monday - Thursday: 2:00 PM - 11:25 PM
Hours: 36.33 hours per week
Pay Rate: £16.00 - £20.00 per hour (depending on experience) plus 20% shift allowance
Responsibilities
- Selecting and setting up cutting tools for machining operations on CNC or conventional lathes.
- Mounting and dismounting workpieces on/from the lathe.
- Performing roughing and finishing operations to meet technical specifications.
- Conducting quality checks on finished pieces to ensure compliance with technical drawings.
- Performing routine maintenance on milling machines and tools.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, including removing swarf/chips.
Qualifications
- Essential: Apprentice-trained, time-served engineer with hands-on manufacturing experience.
- Proficiency in operating CNC milling machines.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of industrial machining techniques and quality control processes.
- Familiarity with OHSE practices in the workplace.
- Strong manual skills, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work shifts and adapt to changing requirements.
- Desirable: Experience in an AS9100 or similar quality environment.
- Ability to program and part-program at the machines.
- Proven problem-solving skills and experience in implementing process improvements.
- Milling experience and knowledge of continuous improvement strategies.

- Operate Mazak and Haas CNC milling machines to produce high-quality components.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure production targets are met.
- Conduct regular quality checks using measuring equipment.
- Maintain a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to health and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with machinery or processes.
