We are recruiting for a general factory assistant for an established and trusted sheet metal and fabrication company based in Ferndown, Dorset. The company is known for their high standards and technical expertise, supplying precision metalwork to a wide range of industries including construction, marine, architectural, and engineering sectors.
As a Factory Assistant, you will support our production team by handling packing duties and assisting with basic assembly tasks. This is a hands-on role in a busy workshop environment, ideal for someone who is practical, has good attention to detail, and enjoys working as part of a team.
Salary: Β£12.21 per hour with progression opportunities
Hours: Mon to Thursday 7.45 to 17.00 & Friday 7.45 to 12.45 (38.75 hours per week). Earlier start and finish available if desired.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pack finished metal products securely for dispatch
- Perform basic mechanical assembly and component fitting
- Assist in preparing goods for delivery and maintaining accurate labelling
- Keep the packing area clean, organised, and well-stocked with materials
- Support other factory operations as needed, including handling tools and moving materials
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is beneficial but not essential
- Basic understanding of hand tools and mechanical assembly preferred
- Good attention to detail and quality standards
- Physically fit - some heavy lifting may be required
- Reliable, punctual, and a good team player
- Willing to learn and take direction
