Electroplate/anodise operator based at South West Metal Finishing, Exeter, with occasional travel to other SWMF sites and supplier sites. Reporting to the process team leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Loading components onto jig fixtures.
  • Loading and unloading loaded jigs into acid, alkaline, and plating chemical solutions.
  • Setting temperature, voltage, and current controls.
  • Masking off areas that don’t require plating, using masking agents, bungs and tapes.
  • Dipping or brushing products with chemical solutions.
  • Monitoring the electroplating process.
  • Carrying out basic quality checks.
  • De-jigging components from jigging assemblies.
  • Removing masking agents using mechanical and chemical methods.
  • Transferring newly coated items to finishing or storage area.
  • Ensuring work is undertaken in compliance with regulations, manuals and company policy.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies and reporting any concerns to supervision.
  • Liaising with the customer liaison and planning supervisor and key customer contacts to agree on delivery plans.
  • Reporting maintenance issues to maintenance and production supervision.
  • Attending the daily team brief at the production planning board, discussing the day’s plan and any issues that could jeopardize the plan with the team leader.
  • Liaising with the laboratory and quality on issues that could affect the running of the process.
  • Keeping the area clean and ensuring any 5S actions and audits are actioned.
  • Supporting any actions necessary to improve quality or process improvement.
  • There will be an expectation to undertake the Institute of Materials course at foundation and technician level.
  • Completing production paperwork in accordance with company policy.
  • Attention to detail and sufficient level of dexterity.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to complete job cards and production paperwork.
